I also know how challenging language limitations can be for vulnerable people. I went through this process alone, and now I want to support those who, like me, are in vulnerable situations.

Hello, my name is JoĆ£o Lacerda. Iāve been doing freelance translations for some time now. I recently discovered TWB and Iām very happy with the opportunity to collaborate with this wonderful project, while also having the chance to learn more about the vast world of translation.
Thank you for offering this course. I have been translating for patients and health workers in the hospital where I work. Thatās not my actual job, I work in Audiology, but there seems to be a need and doctors sometimes canāt find translators. I enjoy translating and thatās why I joined TWB.

My name is Annel and iām from Mexico city. Languages have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. Iām a multilingual Desktop Publishing (DTP) specialist, and over the past few years Iāve been increasingly drawn toward translation, particularly in humanitarian contexts.
For the last six or seven years, Iāve been involved in accompanying social movements, which has made me deeply aware of the power of language, how it shapes relationships, mediates tensions, and creates (or limits) access. Iāve often found myself navigating situations that required careful communication and conciliation, and Iāve come to value language not only as a technical skill, but as a tool for connection and conflict resolution.
Iām here because I want to expand that work into new spaces and be of use in contexts where communication truly matters. Iām looking forward to learning, growing, and contributing wherever I can.
