Use of Term Base

Hello everyone,

I have to know. Can we abandon the TB if we find that another formulation would bring more naturalness to the sentence? I’m facing this issue right now with my task of revision. The translator translated many segments without explicitly using the corresponding terms from the TB. I find these translations correct, accurate, and more natural than if it were necessary to use the Term Base.

So I would like to know. Do we absolutely have to use the TB? Even if we find that another formulation would be more accurate?

Dear @amedenoujosue ,
Thank you for asking, this is a very good question!
In general, it’s best to stick to the TB because as you know some words can be translated in many ways and usually the partner has a preference based on their own style guidelines.
However, sometimes there can be exceptions of course.
Could you give me an example or two so I can advise?

All the best,

Giulia
