The error I am getting: Warning! You are not authorized to view this page

Why am I getting this error and how do I fix it?

Hi @service1, I think it is either not a language pair that you have registered for, or it’s a task reserved for verified translators if you are not already verified. Our excellent @Aya.Alrifai will know more!

Hi Katherine and welcome to our community!

I can echo what Tenaya said :100: this usually happens when using the tags on the homepage
I see that you are native in Russian, so I took the liberty to add the language pair English to Russian to your profile so you have access to tasks in this pair :innocent:

To make sure to follow the right steps to view the tasks available for you, you can refer to this tutorial :cinema: You can also check our Translator’s Manual to learn more about our workflow :notebook_with_decorative_cover:

Let me know if you have any questions! :dizzy:

Yes, Aya.Alrifai’s solution is correct. I also had this issue for months, and it seemed no one could help me, but I recently solved it! The problem: my Source Language and Target Language were switched around in my personal profile. It was Swahili to English instead of English to Swahili. Now, that I’ve switched it around, I am finally able to claim tasks for the first time. Hope this helps! Also, hope this helps TWB help others in the future who are receiving the same error message.

Hi @clquig

I’m sorry that you struggled with tasks for a long time  there were indeed a number of tasks available in Swahili, but tasks are only accessible when the language pairs are listed in the correct direction :arrow_right:

It’s surely important for us that our volunteers are aware of the general process of finding and claiming tasks so they don’t see similar error messages. You can find a full explanation on our workflow in the Translator’s Manual :notebook_with_decorative_cover: Also, you are always welcome to reach out to us for and question here on the forum or via the email address translators@translatorswithoutborders.org :email:

I hope this helps! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance, and hopefully you find the chance to claim a task soon! :innocent:

Thank you @Aya.Alrifai. No worries! I’m currently working on my first task. I appreciate the solidarity and cooperation I’m finding here. :innocent:
