How to become a TWB Verified Translator?

Hi!
I want to become verified for translating Indonesian> Spanish or Indonesian> English (or vice versa) but I never seem to see any tasks. After doing a search I have noticed there have been some projects in the past but I never got notified. Am I doing anything wrong? How can I ensure I pick up Indonesian tasks in the future?

Hi @tanyalwade

I’m sorry to hear you haven’t had access to many tasks recently

If you can’t see any tasks on the homepage, it’s because there aren’t any tasks currently available!

I can see that your email notifications are set to Daily so you should be notified of all tasks. However, it may be that another translator claims the task before the email is sent out and so you never get the notification :face_with_monocle:

I would recommend that you open the TWB platform and have a look every now and then just to check if there are any tasks!

I hope this information helps, Tanya

Thanks so much Charlotte. I cant even see any tasks in any languages other than those I am verified in (English/Spanish). It’s so frustrating :frowning: Thank you for the help though!

Hello everyone,
I took the verification test 7 weeks ago and I didn’t receive my results yet, so is there something I should do?
thanks in advance.

Hi @HagerElbadawy

Thanks for following up on your test! I’ve just checked and unfortunately, we haven’t got the results yet

I’ll reach out to one of our volunteer translators this week to have the test fast-tracked, and once we have your results we’ll let you know

In the meantime, you do have access to tasks available to non-verified translators in your language pairs!

Thanks for your understanding and patience, Hager

Hi, I know you no longer use the verification test but I wanted to know if mine was ever processed, I took it in January. Also, I recently participated of the TWB Translation Contest during the Spanish Language Week to try to get verified faster, but I haven’t heard back from that either. I would appreciate if you have any update, thanks!

Dear Charlotte,
Hi! I hope this message finds you well. I am a verified translator ( from English to Arabic) TWB. However, I would like to widen my scope of translation. Therefore, I am looking for a test so that I can be a verified translator in Arabic to English.
Best regards,
Noamen Amara

Hi @noamenamara, thank you for your message

We no longer offer the option to take a translation test to become verified. This is because we believe that the verification system we had in place was no longer sustainable for the size of our community.

However, in this thread above you can learn more about how to become verified :top:

Thank you for your support, Noamen - let us know if you have any other questions :tulip:

Hi @aloyolaheufemann, thanks a lot for following up on your test!

Unfortunately, we had a large backlog with the tests in your language pair, I am sorry you still haven’t received your results  However, we are working on clearing it up and our Senior Reviewers are doing their best to go through all the previous tests :woman_technologist: :man_technologist:

We’ll surely contact you as soon as the results are in :crossed_fingers:

As per the Spanish translation contest, we are still processing the translations received - we’ll definitely share the winners and everything about it on the forum with the whole community and contact by email all new verified translators :star2:

Hi Silvia,
I have been registered on the platform a couple of months now.
So far, I have never been able to translate anything in my language pairs, nothing seems to be available.
As such, I can’t hope to access the Kato Verified Translator credential through good quality translation on Kato.
The problem is, with my current language pair, I can’t hope to have any certification from any of the mentionned associations (e.g. ATA would be great, but I am living in a place where certification tests are not hold).
As you can see, access to verification is a bit complicated. Is there any other way to be verified and participate? I hold a degree in translation and have been translating for some time, and I would love to be able to contribute!
Thanks in advance for your response.

Hi @clr.queff

Firstly welcome to the TWB community!

I’m sorry to hear you’ve been unable to access tasks recently. We do upload new tasks all the time, so keep an eye out on the homepage :eyes:

We completely understand that it can be difficult to access tasks, which will then allow you to become verified. We’re aware that this is an issue and we’re working on finding a solution :slightly_smiling_face:

All I can do is encourage you to regularly check the homepage and I’m sure you’ll be able to find a task to work on soon :crossed_fingers:

Thank you for your patience and understanding, Claire

Hi @charlotte1, @Silvia_Mauri, I hope you are both well, :tulip: I just thought to ask you as I took the test to become verified for my Spanish into English language pair in March, and I know that TWB isn’t using the testing system anymore and so I was unsure whether my test would still be valid/corrected… I just thought to ask you! Thank you very much for all of your help Charlotte and Silvia, :star_struck: :star_struck:

Hi @elissa.cosby

Thanks for following up on your test!

We’re still processing the remaining tests and will of course let you know when the results are in!

Unfortunately, we still have a bit of a backlog with this language pair but our volunteer reviewers are working their way through them :star_struck:

Thanks for your patience, Elissa!

Hello! I was wondering if someone could help me out… I just joined the community and I could love to become a certified translator… I understand I need to complete a task but so far I have none on my dock… is there another way I can take a test or do I just need to wait for a task to come up?

thank you!

Hi @marcediana, thank you for your message  I’ve moved it to this thread where you have more information on how to become verified :top:

I am sorry you were not able to work on many tasks recently  the homepage only shows you available tasks at the time you are looking, so if you don’t see any tasks, it means that currently there are no available tasks in your language pair.

However, we post new tasks all the time, so keep an eye out! :eyes:

I see you signed up to receive weekly task email notifications; if you would like to receive more frequent updates, follow these steps to edit your notification settings

Thank you for your support! Let us know if you have any other questions :sunny:

Hey everyone, I’m trying to become a Kato verified translator, but like many of you, the tasks in my language seem to be unavailable. I have registered myself for email notifications in case any tasks pop up but when I checked the Kato site today to make sure there really were no tasks available, I noticed that my language was removed from the array of “Target Language” options. Does this mean that Kato is no longer a viable option for me to become a translator?

Hi,
I wouldn’t think so
If your language pair isn’t available it also doesn’t show up in the drop down menus.
