Who are we?
COP26 Coalition is a UK-based civil society coalition of groups and individuals mobilising around climate justice during COP26, the UN’s Climate Change Conference. Coalition members include environment and development NGOs, trade unions, grassroots community campaigns, faith groups, youth groups, migrant and racial justice networks.
As Climate Change is a global issue, our coalition is seeking global solutions. At the heart of any attempt to build successful global events, partnerships and change is the act of Translation and Interpretation. We have held dozens of events where translation was the glue that held all the potential of global solutions together. This has been achieved through a growing network of Volunteer interpreters and translators.
What do we need?
This is where you come in! We want to ensure language justice throughout the whole of our Summit. We are looking for volunteers that want to gain experience with translation and interpretation and help us connect the social movements of the world who are seeking to address the Climate Crisis.
Our speakers and audiences are from all over the world and our interpreters will all be working remotely. We would like to ensure the following language throughout our events: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Bahasa, Bengali, Turkish, Hindi and Arabic. We will be providing induction and training across the next couple of weeks as our program will run from Oct 31st to Nov 14th. As we have different tasks available, we will be adapting to your availability and capacity, so you can also decide exactly when and for what you would like to be available.
